Mumbai, June 5, 2026: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Progressive Foundation of Human Rights (PFHR) organized a National Convention on the theme “Global Warming – Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future” at Hotel Sea Princess, Mumbai.

The convention brought together representatives from all 28 States and 8 Union Territories of India to deliberate on the growing challenges of climate change, environmental sustainability, and their impact on society. The convention was chaired by Shri Rakesh Pandey, President of the Progressive Foundation of Human Rights.

The event was graced and addressed by several distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Jayakumar Jitendrasinh Rawal, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Marketing and Protocol, Government of Maharashtra, Dr. Pawan Ram Tripathi, General Secretary, BJP Mumbai and Treasurer, Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Trust, Shri Raju Bhai Parmar, Former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and Senior BJP Leader, Shri Naresh Rawal, Former Home Minister of Gujarat and Senior BJP Leader, Shri Anand Dubey, National Spokesperson, Shiv Sena (UBT), Shri Mukesh Pandey- Chairman, Human Right Violation Control Cell, Dr. Yogesh Jiwanlal Lakhani is the Chairman and Managing Director of Bright Outdoor Media Limited, Music Director and Composer Shri Dilip Sen, Shri Mohan Singh Tomar, CEO, Nestoria Group, Shri Mandip Desai, Chairman, The Indian Ethnic Company, Shri Mahesh Shah, Entrepreneur, Dr. Sanjay Bokolia- Joint Director (Admin) Central Institute of Fisheries Education Mumbai, Maharashtra, Shri B. N. Delegates from all participating States and Union Territories shared their perspectives on environmental challenges, climate change, and the broader human rights implications of global warming. The convention served as a platform for meaningful dialogue and collective action towards a sustainable future.

World Environment Day, observed annually on 5 June under the aegis of the United Nations, promotes global awareness and action for environmental protection. The day highlights the urgent need to address biodiversity loss, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combat pollution, and restore ecosystems. Global warming remains one of the most pressing challenges of our time, affecting climate systems, biodiversity, public health, and livelihoods across the globe.

Progressive Foundation of Human Rights (PFHR) is an independent, non-governmental, non-partisan, and not-for-profit organization established in 2006. Registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, and associated with various government initiatives, PFHR works towards the promotion of human rights, social justice, and the welfare of marginalized communities.

During the event, the prestigious Amar Shaheed Mangal Pandey Memorial Awards of Excellence were also presented to eminent personalities in recognition of their outstanding contributions to society.
